Bandipora, Jan 2: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Bandipora unit on Thursday sought strict disciplinary action against what it described as “self-styled individuals” accused of violating party discipline by voting against the party line and subsequently campaigning against the official party candidate.
The demand was made during an important meeting of the JKNC Bandipora unit convened to review the prevailing political situation and recent organisational developments.
The meeting was attended by Tanveer Bhuttoo, Joint Secretary North Kashmir; G.A. Malik, Senior Block President; District Organiser Dr Zahoor Ahmed; party spokesperson for Bandipora Prof Ab Rahman; Constituency Secretary Wani Manzoor; JKYNC block presidents Captain Rafiq Malik, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh and Abdul Khaliq Sheikh; senior leaders Haji Mohammad Yousaf and Haji Ghulam Hassan Mir; and members of the Youth District Body.
According to the party unit, the leadership strongly condemned the conduct of certain individuals who, it said, had openly defied the decision of the party high command and were later seen campaigning against the official JKNC candidate, with videos and photographs of their activities circulating in the public domain.
The meeting unanimously observed that such actions amounted to a “gross violation” of the party’s principles, ideology and organisational discipline. Leaders said the alleged acts not only undermined the collective decision-making process of the party but also threatened to damage its credibility and organisational structure at the grassroots level in Bandipora.
Describing the issue as one affecting the “honour, dignity and survival” of the party organisation in the district, the JKNC Bandipora unit demanded immediate intervention by the party high command and the party president, calling for exemplary disciplinary action to prevent recurrence of such indiscipline in the future.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to remain united, uphold party discipline and work towards strengthening the National Conference in Bandipora under the leadership and direction of the party high command.
