Bandipora, Dec 24: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), District Bandipora, on Tuesday expressed strong resentment over what it termed as the unwarranted interference and undue patronage being extended to a select group of Cultural Coordinators, allowing them to function far beyond their mandated cultural responsibilities and intrude into academic and administrative matters.
In a statement, Chief Spokesperson JKTF Bandipora, Anjum Nisar, said teachers across the district are deeply aggrieved by the repeated involvement of Cultural Coordinators in programmes and activities that have no connection with their designated role.
He said such practices indicate unchecked freedom and unofficial authority being enjoyed by these individuals, which has adversely impacted the academic environment and eroded teacher morale.
The Forum pointed out that the same individuals have continued as Cultural Coordinators for over a decade, while many deserving teachers have been consistently denied an opportunity, reflecting institutional favouritism and misuse of authority.
JKTF stressed that Cultural Coordinators are appointed exclusively to oversee cultural activities and that any interference in administrative or academic affairs is both unwarranted and unacceptable.
The Forum demanded immediate accountability and corrective measures, including the replacement of long-serving Cultural Coordinators, introduction of a transparent and rotational mechanism, and issuance of clear directives restraining Cultural Coordinators from involvement in non-cultural, academic or administrative activities.
Warning of escalation, JKTF said continuation of such practices would compel the Forum to intensify its democratic response, asserting that the dignity, equality and service rights of teachers cannot be compromised.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency, accountability and justice, the Forum said it would continue to raise its voice against all forms of favouritism and administrative overreach.
