Job support for kin of terror victims is moral duty of the state: Wajahat Farooq Bhat

Srinagar, Dec 15: Renowned human rights activist and Chairman of the Save Youth Save Future Foundation, Wajahat Farooq Bhat, on Monday said the job support for the kin of terror victims is the moral duty of the state and hailed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for taking initiative for the first time in JK to provide jobs to terror victims.

He was addressing the job distribution ceremony for the Next of Kin (NoK) of victims of terrorism at Lok Bhawan, Srinagar. The solemn event was held in the august presence of the LG, Manoj Sinha, and marked another step towards the rehabilitation of families affected by years of terrorism.

Addressing the gathering, Wajahat Farooq Bhat described the initiative as a humane, compassionate and dignified response to the suffering endured by families who have lost their loved ones to terrorism.

He said that providing government employment to the NoK of victims should not be viewed merely as an administrative exercise, but as a moral and social responsibility of the state to help restore dignity, stability and hope to those who have faced irreparable loss.

Bhat emphasised that terrorism leaves behind deep emotional, social and economic scars, particularly for families suddenly deprived of their breadwinners. He said that initiatives like these play a crucial role in helping affected families rebuild their lives with a sense of security and belonging, while also reaffirming the state’s commitment to justice and human values.

Commending the Jammu and Kashmir Administration under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Wajahat Farooq Bhat lauded the institutionalisation of support mechanisms for victims of terrorism.

He noted that sustained and structured rehabilitation efforts send a strong message that the government stands firmly with victims and will not allow them to be forgotten. Such measures, he said, also help strengthen public trust in governance and reinforce faith in democratic institutions.
The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, in his address, reiterated the administration’s unwavering commitment to justice, compassion and inclusive development. He said that the welfare and rehabilitation of victims of terrorism and their families remains a top priority of the government, and assured that all possible steps will continue to be taken to support them in rebuilding
