Indian Army Celebrates Cultural Heritage; Organises Awareness Programmes Across J&K

New Delhi, Dec 09: The Indian Army continued its multi-faceted community engagement initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir, celebrating culture, promoting education, raising digital and environmental awareness, and supporting the families of soldiers through a series of outreach programmes on 09 December 2025.
These events reinforced the Army’s commitment to holistic development, community welfare, and youth empowerment across the region.
Army Public School (APS) Damana hosted its Annual Day Celebration under the theme ‘Jashne Warasat– Celebrating the Heritage of J&K’. The programme showcased the rich cultural diversity of Jammu & Kashmir through folk dances, classical performances, thematic skits, musical presentations, and artistic displays.
The event was graced by Brig Kumar Anand, Commander Chenab Brigade & Chairman APS Damana as Chief Guest, and Mrs Surabhi Sonal, Chairperson FWO Chenab Brigade as Guest of Honour, along with distinguished officers from Chenab Brigade. Over 500 students from the Foundational Wing participated in the performances, including acts such as ‘Jannat-e-Benazir, Hamara Jammu Kashmir– A Symphony of Culture and Celebration’, ‘Culture That Blooms, Tradition That Glows’ and ‘– Folk Fiesta of Jammu and Kashmir’.
The programme concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, choral singing of the National Anthem, and light refreshments for students and parents. The Chief Guest and dignitaries applauded the dedication of students, staff, and parents in ensuring the success of the event.
APS Sunjuwan celebrated its Annual Day with the theme “Together We Grow”, highlighting the academic and co-curricular achievements of students and acknowledging the contributions of staff and parents.
Students performed a series of cultural programmes, including dance, music, and thematic presentations, reflecting confidence, creativity, and teamwork. The GOC, Tiger Division appreciated the efforts of students and staff, acknowledging the school’s commitment to holistic development.
The Indian Army organized an awareness lecture on cyber fraud for students and faculty of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kotranka, empowering participants with knowledge on digital threats, online safety, phishing, identity theft, and secure online practices.
The session was attended by 67 students and 4 teachers, highlighting the Army’s proactive role in promoting digital literacy and responsible internet usage in remote areas.
As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada, the Army organized a drawing competition for children from Village Sariya and nearby areas, focusing on the theme “Clean, Green & Sustainable Station”.
Twenty-six children showcased creative artworks emphasizing environmental conservation, hygiene, and sustainable practices. Prizes and refreshments were distributed at the event, fostering environmental awareness and instilling a sense of responsibility among the youth.
The Cross Swords Gunners, under the aegis of the White Knight Corps, organized a special welfare interaction for the families of fallen soldiers and retired veterans at Chowki Choura.
The event provided a platform to discuss welfare concerns, assistance requirements, and support mechanisms for Veer Naris and widows of soldiers. The initiative reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of its personnel and ensuring the well-being of their families.
These initiatives, spanning culture, education, digital awareness, environmental responsibility, and welfare support, exemplify the Indian Army’s enduring dedication to fostering unity, empowerment, and community development in Jammu & Kashmir. (PIB)
