Pampore, October 29: MLA Pampore, Justice Hasnain Masoodi (Retd), laid the foundation stones for two major development projects — the Beautification of Pampore Town and the Construction of a Shopping Complex at Tanchibagh, Pampore.
The ceremony was attended by Assistant Executive Engineer R&B Pampore Irshad Ahmad, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pampore Mohammad Ismail, and other officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Masoodi reiterated the government’s commitment to balanced and sustainable urban development, aiming to create modern public spaces that reflect Pampore’s distinctive cultural and economic identity.
On October 13, during review meeting of District Pulwama, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah e-inaugurated the Shopping Complex at Pampore, constructed at a project cost of Rs 373.32 lakh by the Housing and Urban Development Department.
Speaking to Kashmir Convener, MLA Pampore, Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, stated that a multi-crore shopping complex project was initiated in Pampore, with its foundation stone e-inaugurated by then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, recognizing the significance of this Saffron town.
He added that today they have formally inaugurated the foundation stone of this project. Another major initiative, he said, is the beautification programme for Pampore. “I have proposed a massive beautification project worth several crores for the town. The project inaugurated today marks the beginning of this effort, with an initial investment of around Rs 65 lakh,” he said.
Masoodi further mentioned that the town’s sports ground will also be upgraded under a separate programme. In the Assembly, he raised the demand for strengthening the Jhelum protection bund from Joinery Mill to Letterbal Kadlabal.
He also highlighted the need to identify land for the construction of a community hall in Pampore and proposed the establishment of a mini secretariat so that all government offices—currently spread across Drangbal, Frestabal, Namblabal, and Kadlabal—can be housed at one central location for public convenience.
Sharing good news for the residents, Masoodi announced that 13 kanals of land previously under the RDD department have now been allocated to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pampore. “This decision will help strengthen the healthcare system here, ensuring that facilities like CT scan and MRI are available within SDH Pampore itself, so that people don’t face any inconvenience,” he said.
He concluded by saying, “Our government is a people-friendly government committed to the welfare and development of the public.”
