Over 5,000 Vacant Posts in J&K Health Department : Reveals Official Data

Srinagar, Oct 28: The Health & Medical Education Department revealed that a total of 5,251 posts are currently vacant under the direct recruitment quota in the state.

The details were provided in a written reply to MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah, during the ongoing Autumn Session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

According to the official breakdown, the vacant positions including Gazetted Posts: 1,635, Non-Gazetted Posts: 3,616.

The department said it is “actively pursuing the finalization of Recruitment Rules” in consultation with other concerned departments and stakeholders. It further assured that the process to fill the remaining vacancies will be undertaken immediately upon receiving the necessary approvals and concurrence from relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with all statutory provisions and reservation guidelines.

To maintain services in the interim, the department stated it is relying on “academic arrangements” as a temporary alternative until the positions can be filled on a regular, permanent basis.
