Hashmee FC Wins Major Gopi Singh Rathore Football Tournament in Bandipora
Bandipora, Sept 27: Hashmee Football Club (FC) Bandipora claimed the title of the Major Gopi Singh Rathore (SC) North Kashmir Phase-I Football Tournament on Saturday after defeating Harmukh FC 8–2 in a one-sided final at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium Bandipora.
The tournament, organized to promote sports and youth engagement in the region, featured an electrifying final with Hashmee FC dominating from start to finish.
Commanding Officer of 14 RR Colonel Rohit Bhatt was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the trophy and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up.
He also felicitated individual achievers of the tournament.
Praising the players, Col. Bhatt said, “Sports like football are not just about winning trophies; they teach discipline, teamwork, and channel youth energy positively. The talent I witnessed here is remarkable, and these young players can shine at higher levels if they continue with the same dedication.”
He said the army has been at the forefront to provide a platform to the youth of Bandipora to showcase their talent and spend their leisure time in productive activities besides mentoring those who want to make sports a profession.
Aaqib Ayaz earned the Golden Boot Award after scoring an impressive 26 goals in the competition. Junaid Baba received the Best Goalkeeper (Golden Gloves) award, while Iqbal FC was recognized as the Best Disciplined and Outstanding Team.
The tournament highlighted the sporting talent of North Kashmir and provided a platform for young footballers to showcase their skills on a larger stage.
