Indian Army Conducts Medical Patrol for Gujjars and Bakkarwals in Rajouri & Reasi

Rajouri & Reasi, March 5: The Indian Army has extended essential healthcare services to remote villages in Rajouri and Reasi districts by organizing a mobile medical patrol in Chowkian, Sarsoti, and Bharakh.

Defence Spokesperson said the initiative aimed to address the medical needs of the local population, including the nomadic Gujjar and Bakkarwal communities, who often face challenges in accessing mainstream healthcare due to their isolated locations and rugged terrain.

Equipped with necessary medical supplies, the mobile medical team provided on-the-spot health check-ups, treatment for common ailments, and distribution of medicines.

Special focus was placed on preventive healthcare, including immunization drives and awareness campaigns on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. Women’s healthcare received particular attention during the initiative.

He said about 101 individuals, including 40 men, 52 women, and nine children, benefited from the medical services.

He said the initiative was met with overwhelming appreciation from the local population, who expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for bringing vital healthcare directly to their doorsteps.

“Beyond providing immediate medical relief, the patrol also played a key role in strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and local communities, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to public welfare in the region”.
