Bandipora, Jan : The Indian Army’s Rana Battalion in Bagtore has commenced a snow clearance operation on the inner link roads of Gurez Valley in Bandipora district. This initiative brings much-needed relief to residents, as while the main Gurez-Bandipora road was opened earlier this year due to less snowfall than usual, the inner link roads remained blocked, creating significant transportation challenges. The Rana Battalion’s efforts will significantly improve connectivity for the local population.

Former BDC Kanzalwan, Mukhtar Ahmad Lone, expressed his appreciation for the Army’s assistance. “I once again extend my heartfelt thanks to our nearby Army unit, the Rana Battalion, for clearing the link roads in Kanzalwan,” Lone told the media. “The mechanical department’s machinery was unable to clear the internal Dasi-Dagan road, but today, the Rana Post unit successfully cleared the way. I am also thankful to the Rana Battalion Bagtore CO and the Indian Army for always supporting civilians during harsh winter conditions.”

The Indian Army has consistently played a crucial role in supporting civilians in the remote Gurez Valley, particularly during the harsh winter months when heavy snowfall disrupts daily life, he further said.

Expressing their appreciation, locals lauded the Army’s swift response and tireless efforts in reopening the road. “We are extremely thankful to the Indian Army for their prompt action. Their support in such difficult times is invaluable,” said Zaheer Ahmed another local resident.

The Indian Army continues to play a vital role in humanitarian assistance across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in extreme weather conditions. By undertaking snow clearance and infrastructure restoration efforts, it reinforces its dedication to the well-being of the people in remote and border areas.

With the Dagan to Dasi link road now operational, residents can resume their normal activities without the hardships caused by the snowfall, further strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and the local communities.
