J&K Bank Under Fire as MPAY Shutdown Frustrates Lakhs of Users Again

Srinagar, Jan 3: Jammu and Kashmir Bank’s popular online transaction application, MPAY, has been abruptly shut down across the Union Territory, sparking widespread frustration and disruptions for consumers and businesses alike.

The continued shutdown of MPAY on the pretext of maintenance, has raised serious concerns about the bank’s ability to deliver reliable digital services, with many questioning its commitment to ensuring seamless financial operations in the region.

Lakhs of consumers, heavily reliant on MPAY for daily transactions, expressed their outrage. Many lamented the app’s frequent unavailability, which has become a persistent issue.

“JK Bank is the only bank that has to shut its Mobile App every month for maintenance. Why can they hire a better service provider like that of SBI, HDFC, PNB etc who are having a better mobile banking service,” said a user from University of Kashmir who has been waiting since yesterday to submit fee online.

“This isn’t the first time. MPAY is always a headache, especially during urgent times. Almost every second person in Jammu and Kashmir uses it, but it fails us when we need it most,” said Nazir Bhat, a shopkeeper.

Frustrated by the recurring outages, some consumers are now opting for alternative banking solutions. “It’s time to switch to a bank that offers hassle-free services 24/7 without charges. I’ve already moved to another bank, and I’m not facing any issues now,” said a daily needs shopkeeper.

Both consumers and business owners have called on J&K Bank’s management to implement a permanent fix to ensure uninterrupted service. They argue that the frequent outages not only damage the bank’s reputation but also hinder important financial transactions.

Consumers have urged the management of J&K Bank to find a one-time solution for hassle free service.
