Baramulla, May 20: The two-day 7th District Baramulla Pencak Silat Championship 2026–27 commenced with great enthusiasm at the Indoor Sports Stadium Baramulla. The championship is being organised by the District Pencak Silat Association Baramulla under the aegis of the Pencak Silat Association of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Shaukat Hussain Shah, Manager Sports Council Baramulla, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Khazir Muhammed, President Pencak Silat Association Baramulla, and Mohd Yousuf, Vice President DVB A-Bla, attended the event as Guests of Honour.
More than 125 boys and girls from different parts of District Baramulla are participating in the championship across various weight categories. The young athletes displayed remarkable energy, skill, discipline, and sportsmanship during the opening day competitions.
Parents and spectators appreciated the efforts of the organisers and expressed happiness in seeing their children actively participating in district-level sports activities. Addressing the participants, the Chief Guest encouraged the athletes to continue working hard and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the championship.
