Srinagar Jan 26: Ahmad Ayaz, a Social Activist and national TV debater, has expressed deep concern over the plight of the Vocational Trainers (VTs) in Jammu and Kashmir, who have been the backbone of skill-based education under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) for over a decade.
Highlighting their critical role in shaping the future of the region’s youth, he has called upon the government to urgently address their grievances and ensure justice.
In a statement issued today, he said For years, these trainers have empowered thousands of students with practical knowledge and employable skills, significantly contributing to reducing unemployment in the region. “Despite their indispensable role, they continue to face neglect and injustice.”
The Vocational Trainers have consistently demonstrated exceptional commitment, achieving an impressive 95% success rate in board exams for classes 9 to 12, even while managing high teacher-student ratios. Yet, they are undervalued, with inadequate salaries, lack of job security, and no compensation for their families in cases of untimely demise, he added.
“It is deeply disheartening that those responsible for teaching our youth about justice and equality are themselves subjected to discrimination and apathy,” Ahmad Ayaz said. “Despite repeated assurances, the promises made to them by the authorities remain unfulfilled, forcing them to resort to protests. This is not just a demand for regularization but a fight for dignity, justice, and the rightful acknowledgment of their contributions.”
Ahmad Ayaz reaffirmed his solidarity with the Vocational Trainers, emphasizing that their demands are legitimate and vital for strengthening the vocational education system in Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the government to take immediate action to address their grievances and ensure fairness.
“Ensuring justice for the Vocational Trainers is not only about fulfilling promises but also about upholding the principles of equality and fairness that define a progressive society. Their recognition and welfare are imperative for the continued growth and success of vocational education in the region,” he added.
