Crackdown on illegal mining in Pampore; 3 L&T machines seized

PAMPORE, April 14: The Geology and Mining Department Pulwama have seized three L&T machines used for illegal mining at Pampore areas of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during the night raids.

According to a spokesperson, Acting on specific information about unauthorized mining activities during night hours, the Geology and Mining Department conducted raids in the Wuyan area of Pampore. The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized mining activities in the region.

Officials told Kashmir Convener they received a complaint about illegal mining in the Wuyan area and a team of Geology and Mining Department under the supervision of DMO Pulwama Er Mohammad Manzoor conducted night raids.

During the raids, we seized three L&T machines involved in illegal mining. These machines have been taken to the Geology and Mining Sub Office in Khrew, where they are now under custody,” he said.

Earlier, Geology and Mining Department Pulwama under the supervision of DMO Pulwama Er Mohammad Manzoor laid a crackdown at various locations in Pulwama district and destroyed a number of ramps in Rahmoo. Wahibugh, Nallah Rumshi and other locations of the district.

DMO Pulwama Er Mohammad Manzoor told Kashmir Convener that his dedicated team has been put on high alert day and night to monitor illegal mining in the Pulwama district. The officer assured that all illegal mining cases would be dealt with according to the rules, utilizing a fast-track system for necessary actions against the violators.

The department has asked drivers to purchase minerals from legal sources only and stay away from illegal mining practices..
