Wildlife Department Launches Search Operation After Black Bear Spotted in Khrew, Pampore

PAMPORE, JUNE 25: The Wildlife Department on Thursday launched a search operation to capture a black bear spotted in the Khrew area of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

According to officials, the operation was initiated after locals reported the presence of a black bear in Gousia Colony, Babapora, Khrew.

Officials told Kashmir Convener that upon receiving the information, a team of wildlife experts rushed to the area equipped with tranquilizer guns to safely capture the animal.

“We received information from local residents regarding the presence of a black bear in the area. A team was immediately dispatched to the spot, and efforts are underway to trap the animal,” an official said.

The department expressed hope that the bear would be captured soon and urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the ongoing operation.

Wildlife officials also advised people in the area to follow the safety guidelines and advisories already issued by the department to avoid any untoward incidents.
