Bandipora, May 04: A series of activities promoting holistic development and empowerment of girl students were organised at Higher Secondary School Mantrigam under the aegis of the Social Welfare Department, SANKALP HEW Mission Shakti Bandipora, as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme.
An official spokesperson said the event featured a girls’ volleyball match, drawing enthusiastic participation and highlighting the importance of teamwork, discipline and physical fitness.
He said a plantation drive was also carried out on the school campus, with students and staff actively taking part to spread awareness about environmental conservation.
To encourage greater involvement in sports, kits were distributed among girl students, particularly benefiting those from underprivileged backgrounds. Officials said the initiative aims to promote equal opportunities and active engagement of girls in extracurricular activities.
An awareness session was also conducted to highlight various government schemes and services offered under the SANKALP HEW Hub. Participants were sensitised about the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and staying informed about empowerment initiatives.
The programme concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where winners and runners-up of the volleyball match were honoured, and physical education teachers were appreciated for their efforts.
Officials from SANKALP HEW, including the District Mission Coordinator, Gender Specialist, Financial Literacy Specialist and Account Assistant, attended the event along with school staff, reflecting a coordinated effort to promote girls’ empowerment through sports and awareness initiatives.
