Urdu Council Holds Literary Event in Kupwara, Unveils Book ‘Shaheen Ka Jahan Aur’

Kupwara, October 3: The Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council organised a literary event at Boys Higher Secondary School, Kupwara, on Saturday, where the book Shaheen Ka Jahan Aur, authored by writer and scholar Dr Abdul Hafeez Masoodi, was formally released.

The book documents the life, religious scholarship and contributions of Maulana Zaid Ahmad Shah Masoodi, particularly his work in religious and intellectual fields.

The event was presided over by Justice Bashir Ahmad Karmani. Former Member of Parliament Sharif-ud-Din Shariq and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani attended as guests of honour.

Writers, poets, scholars and literary figures from different parts of the Valley participated in the event. Those who spoke about the book and its various aspects included Professor Hamid Naseem Rafiabadi, Ejaz Ahmad Kakroo, Yousuf Jameel, Abdul Rahman Kandoo, Professor Rashid Majrooh, Rafi Ahmad Masoodi and Professor Sadiq Wahid.

Addressing the gathering, Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council president Abdul Rashid Hanjoora highlighted the importance of Urdu and outlined the council’s initiatives for promoting and preserving the language.

Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani emphasised the importance of Urdu and other mother tongues, saying that attachment to one’s language was an important characteristic of vibrant societies. He also spoke about the political, social, academic, religious and literary contributions of the Masoodi family.

Former MP Sharif-ud-Din Shariq also spoke about the contributions of members of the Masoodi family, from Maulana Muhammad Saeed Masoodi to Dr Abdul Hafeez Masoodi, across political, academic, religious and social spheres.

The speakers described Shaheen Ka Jahan Aur as an effort to document and preserve the life, scholarship and religious contributions of Maulana Zaid Ahmad Shah Masoodi.
