Srinagar, October 14: Residents of SK Colony, MIG Colony and Qamarabad have sought intervention from the Traffic Police Department and district administration to address persistent traffic congestion on roads connecting the three localities.

The residents said the roads witness heavy traffic movement throughout the day, resulting in frequent congestion, delays and inconvenience to commuters. They identified Parimpora Morh, Bemina Crossing and the road near Police Post Qamarwari as key points requiring improved traffic regulation.

According to the residents, the problem has persisted for nearly a decade despite complaints and representations to the concerned authorities. They called for regular deployment of traffic personnel at vulnerable junctions and a long-term traffic management plan.

They also raised concerns over road safety, referring to reports of past fatalities in the area. However, the details and circumstances of these incidents need to be verified by the concerned authorities.

The residents urged the authorities to conduct an on-ground assessment of traffic movement, regulate vehicle exits and strengthen enforcement at the identified junctions.

They also called upon Police Post Qamarwari, the Traffic Police Department and the district administration to take cognisance of the issue and put in place a permanent mechanism to ease congestion and improve road safety.
