Shopian Police Destroy Illegal Poppy Cultivation; Case Registered

SHOPIAN, April 24: Continuing its sustained crackdown against the drug menace, Shopian Police acted on specific intelligence regarding illegal poppy cultivation in the Narwani Imamsahib area of the district.

Acting swiftly on the information, a police team from Police Station Imamsahib reached the location and discovered poppy cultivation on the land belonging to an individual identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani son of Ab Rashid Wani a resident of Narwani Imamsahib. The illegal crop was destroyed on the spot. Subsequently, Case FIR No. 26/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib.

Shopian Police reaffirmed its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug abuse or illegal cultivation.
