Bandipora, Jan 04: Shakeel-ul-Rehman Rather, AGMUT:2013, has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora district replacing Owais Ahmed, an officer of the 2014 IAS batch, who has been transferred and appointed as the Commissioner of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

Also, he will shoulder the responsibility of overseeing the implementation of the Smart City Project in Srinagar. Ahmed is also entrusted with the role of Vice Chairman for the Srinagar Development Authority. 

These changes come into immediate effect, and he is expected to handle these additional responsibilities alongside his primary duties until further orders.

Having assumed office on July 13, 2020, Ahmad, in his capacity as the Deputy Commissioner of Bandipora, has left a significant impact on the district

Under his tenure, the district witnessed noteworthy developmental initiatives, particularly in boosting tourism, such as projects in the Gurez border town and enhancements around the Wular Lake.

 His tenure also saw the successful execution of various construction and developmental projects, contributing to the overall progress of the district. 

Notably, Ahmed earned commendation from the public for his prompt and efficient handling of their concerns, reflecting his dedication to public service.
