RECPDCL Hands Over Jalna Power Transmission Project SPV to Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company

New Delhi, June 12: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited and a Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power, has handed over Jalna Power Transmission Limited, the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra, to Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited.

An official spokesperson, while talking to Kashmir Convener, said that Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited emerged as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, which acted as the Bid Process Coordinator for the project.

The spokesperson said that the project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

According to the official, the SPV was formally handed over by Ratnesh Kumar, General Manager (Engineering), RECPDCL, to Vineeta Shriwani, Company Secretary, and Amit Naik, Chief Engineer (TBCB), Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, in the presence of senior officials from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, Maharashtra State Transmission Utility (STU) and RECPDCL.

He further said that the project envisages the establishment of a 400/132 kV substation at Jalna along with approximately 135 kilometres of 132 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Jalna (New) with Jalna MIDC, Partur, Ghansawangi and Utwad, besides other associated works.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 24 months and is estimated to cost around Rs 912 crore.
