Pulwama Police Continues Crackdown on Drug Peddlers; Woman Held with Contraband, FIR Registered

PULWAMA May 21: Pulwama Police, continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir initiative, apprehended a woman drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from her possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kakapora.

During naka checking at Okhoo, a police party of PS Kakapora noticed a woman moving towards Kakapora in a suspicious manner carrying a nylon bag in her hand. On seeing the police party, the woman attempted to flee after throwing the bag on the spot. However, the alert police party chased and apprehended her tactfully. During checking of the nylon bag, semi-ground charas-like substance (Bang Boosa) was recovered from her possession. The recovered contraband was weighed on the spot and found to be 2.355 kilograms including the weight of the nylon bag. The accused has been identified as Gulsana Akhter @ Rani wife of Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, resident of Lelhar.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 43/2026 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kakapora and investigation has been taken up.

Pulwama Police remains committed towards eradicating the menace of drugs from society and appeals to the general public to cooperate with police by sharing any information related to drug peddling or other criminal activities.
