Awantipora 25 April 25: Acting tough against the social crimes, Awantipora police have arrested two gamblers in Khrew.
Acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities at Sharshali Khrew, a police party of Police Station Khrew headed by SHO PS Khrew Inspector Naieem Rashid raided the specific spot and arrested two gamblers. They have been identified as Showkat Ahmed Shiekh son of Sonaullah Shiekh, resident of Shar Shalli and Umar Nazir Bhat son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Wahab Sahab Shar Shalli.
Officers have seized stake money of Rs 6830 and playing cards from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 32/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Khrew further investigation has been initiated.
Person found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per the law.General public is requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
