PAMPORE, Oct 16: Martial artist Shah Younis of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been appointed a national referee for Indian Mix Boxing and elected an executive member of the organisation at its All India Referee Seminar and Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 held in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Maharashtra.

The dual recognition gives Younis roles in refereeing and the organisation’s administration, marking a new milestone in his martial arts career.

The national-level seminar and AGM brought together participants to discuss refereeing standards, the development of the sport and organisational matters.

Younis’s appointment as a national referee will enable him to officiate in competitions under the organisation’s framework, while his election as an executive member will allow him to contribute to its activities and development initiatives.

His latest achievement has brought recognition to Pampore’s sporting community and highlights the participation of martial artists from Jammu and Kashmir in national-level sporting organisations.
