Shopian, May 25: A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted a raid at the residential house of Shahzada Aurang Zaib in Muloo Chitragam area of Zainapora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said.
Shahzada Aurang Zaib, was affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami and had served as Ameer-e-Jamaat for Shopian district, according to local sources.
Sources said Aurang Zaib was also associated with Jamia Siraj-ul-Uloom Imamsahib.
The search operation was carried out during morning hours, though officials had not immediately disclosed the case in connection with which the raid was conducted or whether any material was seized during the operation.
Further details regarding the NIA action were awaited, while this report was being filed.
