Bandipora, Feb 29: New light sumo stand Bandipora holds Annual elections on Thursday in which Owais Khursheed Waza, son of the late Lt. Khursheed Ahmad Waza from Bandipora town has been elected as the President of the Sumo Stand.
The annual elections, which saw a significant voter turnout, marked a monumental shift as Owais secured 134 votes out of 250, defeating his opponent who garnered 94 votes
Owais expressed his gratitude to the drivers, acknowledging their trust in him and stated, "Being chosen as your President is a deep honour for me. With my experience as a qualified driver, I comprehend the challenges our community faces. You can trust me to prioritise your concerns and tirelessly work to address them."
Owais highlighted, "Ensuring the welfare and rights of all drivers is my top priority. I commit to collaborating closely with you to enhance working conditions, bolster safety measures, and push for fair compensation."
