Literary Forum Bandipora Launches Fresh Membership Drive for Writers, Poets

Bandipora, May 16: The Literary Forum Bandipora has announced a fresh membership drive aimed at enrolling literature enthusiasts, young writers and poets to bring them onto a common platform for literary engagement and collaboration.

The announcement was made by forum patron Mubashir Saleem Nazki following a meeting held under his chairmanship at the camp office of Daily Kashmir Convener in Bandipora on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by several literary figures, including Sufi Showkat, Dr Adil Mohiuddin, Mir Tariq, Mohammad Yousuf Hayat, Ghulam Mohammad Gulaal, Parsa Rouf Gayal, Basharat Faakir, Mansoor Muntazir, Mubashir Muztarib, Manzoor Qayasi, Shah Bashir, Adil Ismail, Ali Mohammad Aseer, Gh Mohi-ud-Din and Sheikh Saleem.

During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to launch a renewed membership drive under which existing members will also renew their membership. The forum will encourage writers and scholars from Bandipora to join the platform. A membership fee of Rs 200 has been fixed for the year 2026–27.

President Sufi Showkat appealed to the young writers, poets and literature lovers to join the forum for a common platform to continue the literary activities in the district.

Participants also held detailed discussions on the literary activities planned for the year ahead. It was informed that a special Nazki Memorial Lecture will be organised in the second week of June, during which noted poet and literary critic Prof Majrooh Rashid will deliver an extension lecture while Dr Basharat Faakir will present a book review.

The meeting also decided that previously announced literary awards and citations will be conferred on selected writers, followed by a poetic session at the conclusion of the programme.

Several committees were constituted to oversee arrangements for upcoming events, including a panel tasked with finalising nominations for this year’s awards recognising distinguished contributions to literature.
