Srinagar, July 3: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against a Srinagar resident for allegedly duping several job seekers of lakhs of rupees by promising overseas employment and providing forged documents, officials said on Friday.

The chargesheet in FIR No. 67/2021, registered under Sections 420, 468 and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), has been filed before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against Fayaz Ahmad Zarger, son of Mohammad Shafi Zarger, a resident of Qutub Din Pora, Aali Kadal, Srinagar.

According to the Crime Branch, the case originated from a written complaint alleging that the accused, operating under the name M/s HR Choice International Education Consultancy at Karanagar, Srinagar, lured the complainant with assurances of securing employment in Bahrain.

Investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly adopted a similar modus operandi with several other victims, collecting lakhs of rupees from them while providing forged job offer letters, visas, air tickets and other fabricated travel-related documents. To make the scheme appear genuine, the victims were reportedly made to undergo online interviews, medical examinations and sign agreements.

Despite completing the formalities and paying the demanded amounts, none of the victims were provided employment abroad, nor was their money refunded, the investigation found.

The Crime Branch said the allegations were substantiated during the investigation and, after completing all legal formalities, the chargesheet was presented before the competent court for judicial determination. [KNT]
