JKSA Urges Left MPs to Raise JK Recruitment Irregularities in Parliament

New Delhi, Aug 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Friday urged Left party Members of Parliament to raise the issue of recruitment irregularities, unemployment and institutional failures in Jammu and Kashmir during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament.

 

JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami met CPI(M) MP K. Radhakrishnan and CPI MP K. Subbarayan in New Delhi and apprised them of the challenges confronting students, job aspirants and unemployed youth across the Union Territory.

 

During the meeting, Khuehami said that seven years after the abrogation of Article 370, there was a need for an objective assessment of whether promises relating to transparent governance, employment generation, institutional accountability and educational advancement had translated into tangible benefits for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

He said educated youth continue to grapple with rising unemployment, delayed recruitment processes, administrative inefficiencies and declining public confidence in recruitment institutions.

 

Highlighting the employment crisis, Khuehami said repeated examination cancellations, alleged paper leaks, recruitment scams, procedural irregularities, outsourcing controversies and prolonged litigation had left thousands of deserving candidates without jobs, causing academic, financial and psychological distress.

 

He referred to controversies surrounding recruitment examinations for posts including Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspector (JKPSI), Finance Accounts Assistant (FAA), Junior Engineer (Civil) and Fire and Emergency Services, alleging that paper leaks and administrative lapses had delayed recruitment and shattered the aspirations of many candidates.

 

Khuehami said many aspirants had spent years preparing for competitive examinations only to see recruitment processes cancelled or indefinitely delayed, while several candidates had crossed the upper age limit waiting for the completion of the recruitment process.

 

Describing government employment as a vital source of livelihood and social mobility in Jammu and Kashmir, he said recurring irregularities and the absence of a predictable recruitment calendar had eroded public trust in recruitment agencies.

 

He urged the Members of Parliament to press for comprehensive reforms, including a time-bound annual recruitment calendar, expeditious completion of pending recruitment processes, strict action against those responsible for examination irregularities and paper leaks, stronger safeguards against recruitment fraud, greater parliamentary oversight of recruitment agencies and the adoption of transparent, technology-driven recruitment systems.

 

According to the statement, CPI(M) MP K. Radhakrishnan and CPI MP K. Subbarayan gave a patient hearing to the issues raised and acknowledged the seriousness of concerns relating to unemployment, recruitment irregularities and examination scandals in Jammu and Kashmir.

 

The MPs assured Khuehami that the issues highlighted during the meeting would be raised during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament and pursued with the concerned Union Ministries, recruiting agencies and other competent authorities. They also emphasised the need to strengthen transparency, accountability and fairness in public recruitment to address the legitimate concerns of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
