JKGLTF Thanks Govt for Filing Review Petition on TET Judgment

Srinagar, June 7: The Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) has expressed gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Government for filing a review petition before the Supreme Court of India concerning the issue of mandatory Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification for in-service teachers.

In a statement, the Forum appreciated what it described as a positive and employee-friendly approach adopted by the government in addressing the concerns of thousands of teachers across the Union Territory.

The Forum said that the decision to seek a review of the judgment has provided relief and renewed hope among the affected teaching community.

JKGLTF maintained that in-service teachers were appointed after fulfilling the eligibility criteria prescribed at the time of their recruitment and have been serving the education sector with dedication for several years. The Forum expressed hope that the review petition would receive due consideration and that a fair outcome would emerge for the affected teachers.

The teachers’ body also thanked Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other concerned authorities for taking what it termed as timely steps to safeguard the interests of the teaching fraternity.

Reaffirming its commitment towards the welfare of teachers, JKGLTF said it would continue to work constructively for the betterment of the education sector and the teaching community in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Forum expressed optimism that the concerns of in-service teachers would be addressed through the legal process while ensuring the continued strengthening of the education system in the Union Territory.
