Srinagar, September 01: The J&K Sports Council is set to organise a Water Sports Festival in Srinagar, bringing a fresh wave of sporting energy to Jammu and Kashmir.
The upcoming festival will feature several exciting water-sports disciplines, including rowing, dragon boat ,canoeing, kayaking, shikara race ,water skiing and water polo. It is aimed at promoting water sports across the Union Territory and providing young athletes with a competitive platform to showcase their talent.
The festival will also create opportunities to identify promising sportspersons who can be further trained and prepared for participation at National and International levels.
By organising the festival, the J&K Sports Council seeks to encourage greater youth participation in water sports and highlight the potential of Jammu and Kashmir’s natural water bodies for hosting major sporting events.
More than a competition, the Water Sports Festival will be a celebration of athletic excellence, adventure and emerging talent. It is envisioned as a launchpad for future champions and another important step towards strengthening the sporting culture of Jammu and Kashmir.
