JK Specially Abled Employees Association Raises Service Issues with Social Welfare, Education Departments

Bandipora, September 18: A delegation of the All Jammu and Kashmir Specially Abled Employees Association met Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sarmad Hafeez, on Thursday and raised issues concerning the rights and welfare of employees with disabilities, including implementation of the Supreme Court’s directions regarding 4% reservation in promotions for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

During the meeting, the delegation urged the department to take steps towards implementing the directions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Hafeez gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured its members that the matter would be examined and appropriate steps taken towards implementation.

The delegation later met the Commissioner Secretary, School Education Department, and discussed the Annual Transfer Drive (ATD) and other service-related issues faced by employees with disabilities working in the Education Department.

The Commissioner Secretary assured the delegation that its grievances would be examined and addressed on a priority basis.

The Association expressed gratitude to both officers for hearing its concerns and assuring necessary action on the issues raised.
