Indian Red Cross Society Felicitates REC Foundation with ‘CSR Award of Appreciation’

Punjab, October 15: Recognizing its exceptional contribution to healthcare accessibility and community welfare, the Indian Red Cross Society has conferred the prestigious ‘CSR Award of Appreciation’ upon REC Foundation, the CSR arm of REC Limited. The honour was presented by Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, to Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR), REC Limited.

REC Foundation has been consistently working to deliver quality healthcare through Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), reflecting its unwavering commitment to improving the lives of people in India’s most remote and underserved regions. Through its CSR initiatives, REC Foundation has promoted inclusive growth, ensured equitable access to essential services, and reinforced its dedication to nation-building and community empowerment.

A ‘Maharatna’ company under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, Government of India, REC Limited is also registered with the RBI as a Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC), Public Financial Institution (PFI), and Infrastructure Financing Company (IFC). REC finances the entire power infrastructure sector, encompassing generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, and emerging technologies such as electric vehicles, battery storage, pump storage, green hydrogen, and green ammonia projects.

Recently, REC Limited has diversified into the non-power infrastructure sector, including roads and expressways, metro rail, airports, IT and social infrastructure such as educational institutions and hospitals, ports, and electro-mechanical works for steel, refinery, and other sectors. The company provides loans of various maturities to state, central, and private entities for the creation of infrastructure assets nationwide.

Over the years, REC has played a strategic role in key government flagship schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (SAUBHAGAYA), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), and National Electricity Fund (NEF) Scheme, significantly strengthening last-mile distribution systems, achieving 100% village electrification, and promoting household electrification. The company has also been designated as the nodal agency for several states and Union Territories under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and entrusted with implementing the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
