New Delhi, Nov 07: With the country preparing to celebrate Diwali, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday visited the Bagdogra Air Force Station in West Bengal and interacted with Indian Air Force personnel, praising their commitment to safeguarding the country’s skies amid an evolving security environment.

The visit brought attention to the personnel who remain on operational duty, often away from their families, even as people across the country prepare to celebrate festivals with their loved ones.

In a post on X, Rajnath Singh as per Kashmir Convener described the Indian Air Force as a formidable pillar of national security, saying its vigilance, professional skills and operational readiness were central to protecting the nation’s airspace.

He also underlined how the nature of security threats was changing, with asymmetric warfare, drone swarms and cyber attacks emerging as significant challenges for modern armed forces.

“In today’s complex security landscape involving asymmetric warfare, drone swarms, and cyber attacks, our Air Warriors’ domain awareness and cyber resilience remain vital in protecting the nation,” he said.

Describing his interaction with the personnel as inspiring, Rajnath Singh said he was impressed by their energy, devotion to duty and high morale.

The Defence Minister also linked the celebrations at home to the continuous presence of the armed forces on the frontlines, saying their round-the-clock vigil allowed citizens to celebrate festivals in peace.

“Every festival in our country is celebrated with joy and peace because our Armed Forces stand guard round-the-clock,” he said.

Rajnath Singh said the country took immense pride in the courage and selfless service of its armed forces personnel and concluded his message with “Jai Hind!”.
