Bandipora, May 22: Former Municipal Committee Chairman Sumbal, Jahangir Ahmad Dar, on Thursday urged the administration to provide immediate compensation to the hailstorm-affected areas of Sonawari in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
A severe hailstorm accompanied by strong winds lashed several villages of Sonawari earlier today, causing extensive damage to orchards, standing crops, vegetables and other agricultural produce. The sudden weather disturbance left farmers and residents worried over heavy financial losses.
Jahangir Ahmad Dar expressed concern over the hardships faced by growers and farming families and appealed to the district administration to conduct an immediate assessment of the damage in the affected areas. He stressed the need for prompt relief and compensation to support the affected families and help them recover from the losses.
He also urged authorities to ensure timely assistance so that farmers can resume their agricultural activities without further delay.
