Drugs Control Department Conducts Inspections in Nowgam, Sumbal; Two Medical Shops Closed

Bandipora, May 15: In continuation of the ongoing drive against drug abuse, the Drugs Control Department, Bandipora, in collaboration with the Police Department Nowgam Sumbal, conducted inspections of various medical shops in Nowgam Sumbal and nearby areas under the “100 Days Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan”.
During the inspection, two medical shops namely M/s Naseer Medicate and M/s Sarwar Pharmacy, Nowgam Sumbal, were closed down for violations under the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
In addition, one clinical laboratory in Nowgam Sumbal was sealed after expired reagents and test kits were found stored along with live stock. During the inspection, a few ampoules of Tetanus Toxoid Vaccine 0.5 ml belonging to JKMSCL were also found stored in the refrigerator of the clinical laboratory. An on-the-spot notice was served to the concerned person, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
The Drugs Control Department reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against violations affecting public health and stated that such enforcement drives will continue across the district to ensure compliance with the law and safeguard public safety.
