DG Assam Rifles Reviews Operational Preparedness in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, May 13: Director General of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, on Tuesday visited forward locations in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Assam Rifles Battalion at Wusan and the Company Operating Base (COB) at Kangan, where he reviewed operational preparedness and interacted with troops.

According to officials, the Director General assessed the security situation on the ground and interacted with personnel deployed at forward locations. He appreciated the professionalism, dedication and commitment of the troops serving in challenging conditions.

During the visit, Lt Gen Lakhera also felicitated selected personnel with DG Assam Rifles Commendation Cards in recognition of exemplary service and contribution to the organisation. Officials said the awards were aimed at encouraging high standards of performance and operational excellence.

The DG later held interactions with senior Army commanders in Srinagar, focusing on security coordination and operational preparedness in the region.

He met Tushar Sharma, General Officer Commanding of Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo), where discussions were held on the prevailing security environment and measures to strengthen coordination among forces.

In another engagement, Lt Gen Lakhera also interacted with Balbir Singh, General Officer Commanding of XV Corps.

Officials said the meetings focused on reviewing the security situation, enhancing inter-force coordination and improving joint operational synergy in Jammu and Kashmir.

The interactions underscored the continued focus of security forces on maintaining peace, strengthening preparedness and improving cooperation among different formations deployed in the region.
