Bandipora, April 16: Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib on Thursday led a cross-country run in Bandipora as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyan’ 100-day campaign, aimed at promoting a drug-free lifestyle through youth engagement and sports-based initiatives.

The run, jointly organised by the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports, J&K and the District Administration Bandipora, commenced from Shokababa and culminated at the Mini Secretariat. The event witnessed participation from hundreds of students and youth drawn from various educational institutions across the district.

Officials said the initiative was designed to channel the energy of young people into constructive activities while reinforcing awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. Participants completed the route in the early morning hours, reflecting widespread community involvement in the anti-drug campaign.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that such initiatives play an important role in guiding youth towards healthier choices. She emphasised that sports and wellness provide an effective alternative to drug use and help build long-term resilience among young people.

The cross-country run forms part of a broader series of activities being conducted under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, a Government of India campaign focused on reducing substance abuse through awareness, prevention, and community participation.

Officials from the Youth Services & Sports Department and district administration were present during the event, overseeing arrangements and encouraging participants.

Authorities said similar programmes will continue to be organised across the district to sustain momentum in the fight against drug abuse and to promote fitness-oriented lifestyles among the youth.
