DC Budgam visits Magam, Beerwah Hospitals; inspects restoration work on damaged diversion bridge at Beerwah

Says all departments fully mobilized; restoration of damaged infrastructure in full swing

BUDGAM, JULY 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today visited the Sub-District Hospitals (SDHs) at Magam and Beerwah to review healthcare facilities and ensure uninterrupted medical services in the wake of the recent inclement weather.

During the visit, the DC inspected hospital wards, treatment facilities and other healthcare services being provided to patients. Stressing the need for seamless functioning of all health institutions across the district, he directed the Health Department to remain fully prepared to respond to any emergency. He also interacted with doctors, healthcare staff and patients to obtain first-hand feedback on the quality of patient care and the availability of essential medical services.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Beerwah to inspect the ongoing restoration work on the damaged diversion bridge over Nallah Sukhnag, where efforts are underway to restore vehicular movement at the earliest. He directed the concerned departments to expedite restoration of all damaged roads and bridges to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.

He further instructed the concerned departments to ensure prompt restoration of damaged water supply schemes and electricity lines so that scheduled drinking water and power supply to the affected areas remains uninterrupted.

During his visit to the damaged shopping complex at Beerwah, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with affected shopkeepers and assured them that their concerns would be taken up with the Government for appropriate rehabilitation measures.

He also inspected the under-construction bridge at Chewdara and directed the executing agency to expedite the work for its early completion, ensuring improved connectivity for the local population.

Subsequently, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a review meeting at the Town Hall, Beerwah, to assess the flood-like situation and review the progress of restoration works in Beerwah, Khag, Magam and other affected areas of the district.

He reiterated that all departments have been fully mobilized and that restoration of damaged infrastructure is progressing on a war footing to restore normalcy at the earliest.

Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner Budgam, Vivek Agarwal; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Taufeeq Ahmad Gazi; Chief Planning Officer; Assistant Commissioner Development; Superintending Engineers; Executive Engineers of various engineering departments; the concerned Tehsildar; and other district officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.
