Bandipora Jan 19: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel Ur Rehman Rather today visited sumbal to review the functioning of various horticulture units established under various developmental schemes viz CAPEX, (HADP), HDP and MIDH.
He was accompanied by SDM Sumbal Amir Choudhary, Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) Bandipora Farooq Ahmad, Horticulture Development Officer Sumbal Sajad Hussain and other concerned field officers.
The DC inspected various cultivation structures, including Hi-Tech poly house, High tech Nurseries, Mother Blocks and other initiatives taken under various developmental schemes of Horticulture Development.
Shakeel Ur Rehman took stock of the process of production of quality fruit plants of different fruit crops and their further distribution among the farming community and realization of the revenue.
Chief Horticulture Officer Bandipora Farooq Ahmad briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the initiatives taken under various schemes in the district.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inaugurated Hi-tech walnut Nursery established under CAPEX at Rakhi Asham.
CHO informed that Hi-tech walnut nursery has been established on 05 kanals of land with a project cost of 15 lac, for which 7.5 lac were provided by the department as assistance.
The Deputy Commissioner, on the occasion, lauded the owner of high-tech walnut nursery for taking benefit of Govt. Sponsored scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited Modified High-Density Plantation at Shilvat and Asham.
It was informed that High Density plantation at Shilvat has been established on 15 kanals of land with project cost around 29 lac for which 14.85 lac has been provided by department as assistance and High Density Plantation at Asham has been established on 08 kanals of land with project cost Rs. 15.84 lac and assistance of Rs. 7.92 lac.
Later the Deputy Commissioner took spot inspection of Model orchard Cum Nursery Asham of Horticulture Department which is established on 97 kanals of land.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed that among 97 kanals of land in Model Orchard cum Nursery 77 kanals are for the mother block of apple and 20 kannals are for nursery.
CHO informed that the nursery is being developed with latest technologies for production of quality High Density fruit Plants.
Shakeel ur Rehman appreciated the horticulture department Bandipora for taking concrete steps for implementation of HADP in the district.
He said the horticulture sector plays an important role in the economy especially for the farming community and urged unemployed youth to come forward and take benefits from Government sponsored Schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner on the occasion also directed the concerned from the horticulture department to ensure the expeditious and efficient execution of agricultural initiatives for the holistic development and ensure effective HADP implementation for the optimum benefit of the farming community.
