DC Bandipora was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Rahul Malik, Assistant Commissioner Development Abdul Rasheed Dass, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, Executive Engineer R&B, Block Development Chairmen, BDOs and other senior officers of the district.
More than two dozen delegations besides scores of individuals called on the Deputy Commissioner and apprised him about the problems faced by them in day to day life including that of roads, water, electricity, Healthcare services, Education, Agriculture, Irrigation, Sports and other individual issues. The delegations include representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions.
DC Bandipora gave patient hearing to the delegations and passed on-spot directions for redressal of their grievances.  While interacting with the people, DC Bandipora said conducting of public outreach programmes provides an important feedback for the government to tailor its interventions for the public good and reach to the doorstep of the people instead of them visiting the corridors of power in secretariat or other government offices.
He said that public outreach programmes are an important part of effective governance and it takes every step to reach out to the people in their own localities. Dr Owais said that the grievances registered by the people are being tracked personally and the grievance redressal mechanism is being monitored by the government. District Development Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais said all the developmental activities are being monitored and it is being ensured that the ongoing works are completed on time.
While reviewing the progress of ongoing RDD works, DC Bandipora said department has the potential to work for the welfare and development of the people. He asked the officers to make use of the flagship programs of Rural Development Department including MGNREGA to generate employment and creation of durable assets in rural areas of the state.
Dr Owais asked the officers to utilize MGNREGA funds for creating productive assets in the rural areas with special focus on rural connectivity instead of squandering the same on unproductive works. He said with the strengthening of Panchayat Raj Institutions, the people decide about the utilization of funds themselves in Gram Sabhas and government only does hand-holding of PRIs.
He asked the BDOs to submit the pending estimates of RDD works within two days and also sought the status of various ongoing works in Bandipora block.
Later the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the ongoing works on New Tehsil Complex Bandipora. He directed to expedite the ongoing works to meet the deadline.
