PAMPORE, August 22: The sacred Chhari Mubarak on Saturday proceeded towards its final destination—the holy Amarnath Cave—after a special Puja, Havan and other religious rituals were performed at the historic Shiv Temple in Drangbal area of Saffron Town Pampore.

The group of Sadhus, led by Mahant Deependra Giri, reached Pampore, where the Chhari Mubarak was received at the Shiv Temple. Local members of the Pandit community participated in the religious ceremonies and offered prayers.

On the occasion, local Muslims, Civil Society members also warmly welcomed Mahant Deependra Giri and the accompanying Sadhus, reflecting the spirit of communal harmony and brotherhood in the area.

During the special Puja, prayers were offered for peace, prosperity and harmony in Kashmir.

MLA Pampore Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi, SSP Awantipora Sajad Ahmad Shah, ASP Awantipora Rashid Younis, Tehsildar Pampore Malik Asif Ahmad, Regional Development Forum Pampore head Mukhtar Ahmad Tantray along with other civil and security officials, were present at the Shiv Temple to receive the Chhari Mubarak Yatris.

The Chhari Mubarak will pass through various temples and religious places en route to the Holy Amarnath Cave in Anantnag district.

Speaking on the occasion, a local Pandit, social and religious activist Ravi Ji Bhat, highlighted the profound spiritual philosophy of Shaivism and the universal relevance of the teachings of Maa Lalleshwari. He observed that Kashmir’s spiritual heritage transcends boundaries and carries a timeless message of self-realization, compassion, truth and oneness.

He said that the Chhari Mubarak represents not merely a sacred religious tradition but a profound spiritual journey—from the external pilgrimage towards inner awakening and realization of Shivatva. He emphasized that the historic Sedeshwar Mahadev Temple continues to serve as an important symbol of Kashmir’s ancient spiritual and cultural heritage.

The gathering was further enriched by devotional Shiv bhajans and soulful recitations of the sacred Shiv Bhajans verses of Lalleshwari. The devotional presentation created an atmosphere of deep spiritual absorption and devotion among the assembled devotees, he said.

Ramesh Kumar Wangu and Daya Krishan Bhat also addressed the gathering and spoke about the spiritual importance of the Chhari Mubarak Yatra, the preservation of Kashmir’s sacred heritage and the significance of maintaining the region’s long-standing traditions of communal harmony and brotherhood.

According to the schedule, the Chhari Mubarak will halt at Chandanwari on August 24 and at Sheshnag on August 25. It will then proceed to Panchtarni, where it will stay for two nights on August 26 and 27. “Then, on the morning of the 28th, on Raksha Bandhan, we will take the holy Chhari Mubarak to the holy cave,” Giri said.

He said the sacred mace would be installed at the cave shrine amid traditional prayers and Vedic chanting, after which the procession would return to Panchtarni for the night.

The Chhari Mubarak will leave Panchtarni on August 29 and travel back via Sheshnag and Chandanwari to Pahalgam.

On August 30, prayers and Visarjan rituals will be performed, marking the conclusion of the ceremonial journey.
