Srinagar, May 18: Caravan, a unit of the Sheikh-ul-Hind Trust, on Sunday marked 16 years of its humanitarian service in Kashmir, highlighting its work for orphans, widows and economically weaker sections since its establishment in 2010.
The organisation said it has expanded its activities beyond Jammu and Kashmir and is currently working across 11 states in India through educational and charitable programmes aimed at supporting underprivileged communities.
According to the organisation, more than 3,000 orphans and over 1,500 widows have received assistance under its various welfare initiatives over the past 16 years. The support includes educational assistance, social care and access to essential supplies for beneficiary families.
Caravan stated that its primary focus remains the education and wellbeing of orphan children. Under its programmes, children are provided educational support, moral guidance and other forms of assistance aimed at ensuring continuity in their studies and social development.
The organisation also said it supports families by facilitating access to basic necessities, including food supplies, school uniforms, books and other essential items through a structured assistance programme.
Representatives of the NGO described the completion of 16 years as a milestone reflecting the organisation’s continued efforts towards humanitarian work and welfare support for vulnerable sections of society.
Founded in 2010, Caravan functions as a charitable and social welfare unit under the Sheikh-ul-Hind Trust and has been engaged in relief, educational and community support activities in different parts of the country.
