Srinagar, Nov 02: Bollywood actor and fitness enthusiast Suniel Shetty shared his positive views on Kashmir’s future while attending the second Kashmir Marathon, described the event as a display of Kashmir’s strong spirit, which brings people together.

The marathon drew over 1,500 runners from 27 Indian states and 11 countries, including Germany, Denmark, the USA, Ethiopia, Kenya, Japan, and Sri Lanka. Shetty commended the vibrant energy of the diverse participants.

Speaking to Kashmir Convener, “It’s a beautiful morning, and the spirit is incredibly high. It’s wonderful to see people from all age groups running with such passion, for Kashmir and for India,” Shetty stated. “I’m truly happy to be a part of this second edition and will strive to return annually to support this movement.”

Shetty emphasized that the event marks a significant recovery for the Kashmir, especially after the recent Pahalgam terror attack. He cited his observations from a prior tour of Dal Lake and other attractions as evidence of a tourism rebound.

“The atmosphere is vibrant, and tourism is regaining its momentum,” Shetty said. “I am confident this winter will be prosperous for the people of Kashmir, and I expect athletes from around the world will now flock here, particularly for winter sports.”

He also highlighted other international events in the region, such as the Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) featuring cricketer Chris Gayle, as further proof of a return to peace and normalcy.

“We all need to do our bit. This is a collective responsibility,” he asserted. “As citizens of this country, we should come here and contribute however we can, because Kashmir is ours and one of the most beautiful places on earth.”

Recalling the success of the marathon’s first edition, which saw peak tourism and fully booked hotels, Shetty expressed hope for a repeat performance this winter.

Addressing recent economic disruptions, he said “Business was booming, and everyone was happy. A pause ensued, but I believe we can now resume and continue fostering commerce here.”
