‘Bayaz-e-Wahab Khar’ Book Unveiled at Special Ceremony in Pampore

PAMPORE, August 17: The book “Bayaz-e-Wahab Khar”, based on the poetry and works of renowned Kashmiri Sufi saint and poet Wahab Khar Sahib (RA), was formally unveiled at a special ceremony held at Wahab Khar Hall in Shar Shali, Pampore, on Sunday.

The event was presided over by noted intellectual and writer Dr Satish Vimal and attended by prominent poets, writers, scholars, intellectuals, religious scholars and people from different walks of life.

Among those present were Dr Mushtaq Barq, Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem, Fayyaz Arif, Professor Javaid Ahmad Dar, Krishan Ji Langu and Advocate Ashiq Hussain, besides several other literary and cultural personalities.

Speakers paid rich tributes to Wahab Khar Sahib (RA), recalling his contribution to Kashmiri poetry, Sufi thought and the literary heritage of the region. They said his poetry remains an important part of Kashmir’s rich Sufi tradition and carries enduring messages of spirituality, love, humanity and moral values.

They described the publication of “Bayaz-e-Wahab Khar” as a significant literary initiative that would help introduce younger generations to the poetry, philosophy and spiritual thought of the celebrated Sufi poet.

The speakers stressed the need to support and promote efforts aimed at preserving Kashmir’s literary and intellectual heritage, particularly the works of its Sufi poets and writers, and ensuring their transmission to future generations.

A special musical programme was also organised during the event, featuring artists presenting Sufi compositions, including selected verses of Wahab Khar Sahib (RA). The performances added a spiritual and cultural dimension to the gathering.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the organisers expressed gratitude to the guests, poets, writers, artists, scholars and other participants for their presence. They reiterated their commitment to preserving and promoting the literary, Sufi and spiritual legacy of Wahab Khar Sahib (RA).
