Bandipora Army organises trekking expedition for Youth

Bandipora, Oct 16: Bandipora unit of Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of 'Watlab Sector' organised a trekking expedition for the youth with an aim to reach out to common people especially the youth and their constructive engagement. 

An official spokesperson said that the Indian Army reached out to the youth of Bandipora and conducted two trekking Expeditions for the local youth. "A total of 60 youth from various part of Bandipora participated in the event".

He said the schedule of the trekking expeditions were so designed to be a mix of various extra curricular activities along with exploring the natural beauty of higher reaches of Bandipora. 

 The event was flagged off by Major Mritunjay Katoch who also accompanied the youth during the entire period of expedition. During the course of event number of activities like kabaddi, cricket, carrom, archery, volleyball, natural photograohy, fishing, tent pitching, camp setting, camp fire, music and dance activities were conducted and taught to the young minds.

A "motivational talk" by the Company Commander was also organised for the youth. "The talk covered the strength of Kashmiri youth and how to grow in the field of their own choosing through education," spokesperson added.

 During the event youth were told about the importance of hygiene and sanitisation and distributed Covid-19 kits to ensure personal health during this pandemic.

The event also witnessed camp fire and culminated with a pledge by the youth to fight against the Covid-19 and putting in joint efforts for the overall welfare of the society. " The successful conduct and voluntary participation of youth during the event is not only a sign of ever improving bond between 'Awam and Jawan' but also an indication of the confidence and belief of local populace of Bandipora on Indian Army," thr statment issued by the Army reads.
