SUMBAL: Football League 2020 organised by 13 Rashtriya Rifle stationed at Mansbal kick-started today under the aegis of 3 sector Mansbal.
An official spokesperson said the aim of organising the league is to integrate the local youth with the mainstream and to enhance the sporting culture in the valley.
He said the 13 RR under the aegis of HQ 3 Sector RR started a Football tournament at Vijipura village of Hajan Block. The tournament received an overwhelming support from the locals as sixteen teams from Baramulla, Ganderbal and Bandipore district will be participating in the tournament. Spectators in large number turned out in support of their local teams, he added.
Chinar Football League first match was played between Baramulla vs Wangipora Sumbal at Vijpara play ground, The first match witnessed a massive civilians turnout from the bandipora district, prominent personalities from civil & senior Army officer's.
Speaking on the senior Army officer's , 13 RR Mansbal emphasised on Army's continued efforts towards building bridges with Awaam, nurturing sport culture and identifying young talent amongst the youth of the valley.
"This event will also provide platform for interaction of prominent persons of bandipora district with 13 RR , 3 Sector mansbal".
Spokesperson said the tournament will also generate a feeling of nationalism among the youth and motivated them to stay in the national mainstream, thereby improving the overall sit in the district. "Such a tournament has indeed helped the army in projecting a humane face and also reviving the dying sports culture in the region".
