Srinagar, Sept 9: Bharti Airtel Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, has marked more than 25 years of its work in education, saying its initiatives have reached over 7.8 million beneficiaries across India.
Since its inception, the Foundation has supported more than 4.3 million students and 3.62 lakh teachers through initiatives spanning school education, teacher development, government-school partnerships, scholarships and higher education. Its programmes currently cover 37,000 schools and 25,000 villages across 20 states.
Punjab remains the largest hub of the Foundation’s school education initiatives, accounting for nearly 60 per cent of its Satya Bharti School network. The Foundation operates 85 schools in the state, serving more than 21,000 students, including 51 per cent girls. Its Quality Support Programme (QSP) reaches over 42,000 students across 105 government schools.
The Foundation said five Satya Bharti Adarsh Senior Secondary Schools recorded a 99.6 per cent Class X pass rate in the 2025-26 CBSE examinations, with girls registering a 100 per cent pass rate. The schools also recorded a 99.53 per cent Class XII pass rate, including a 98.6 per cent pass rate among girls.
Ludhiana remains central to the Foundation’s work, with 42 Satya Bharti Schools serving 10,764 students from 150 villages. The district also has more than 4,400 users of TheTeacherApp, the Foundation’s free-for-life platform for teachers, school leaders, educators and parents. The platform has recently expanded its engagement in Ludhiana through the QSP across 12 government schools, benefiting more than 4,000 students and 160 teachers.
Teachers remain a key focus of the Foundation’s education strategy. TheTeacherApp now has nearly three lakh users across all 36 States and Union Territories, including more than 20,000 users in Punjab. Developed through partnerships with NITI Aayog, state governments and leading educational institutions, the platform offers AI-enabled tools, professional learning resources and peer-to-peer collaboration to support educators.
Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Co-Chairman, Bharti Airtel Foundation and Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises, said education was central to human capital development and the country’s progress.
He said the Foundation’s work had evolved over the past 25 years from supporting schools and institutions to strengthening the broader education ecosystem, reaching millions of students, teachers and communities.
“Punjab holds a special place in this journey, it is where our first schools opened, and where this story began,” Mittal said, adding that the Foundation aimed to create opportunities enabling every child to learn, grow and contribute to India’s development.
The Foundation’s flagship Satya Bharti Schools currently provide free quality education to more than 35,000 children through 147 schools in rural India. The schools also focus on future-ready skills through digital learning, robotics, experiential education, career programmes and pre-vocational education.
Beyond its own school network, the QSP has extended teaching-learning practices to more than 1,200 government schools across 13 States and Union Territories. The Foundation also supports higher education through university infrastructure and scholarships, including the Bharti Airtel Scholarship, which currently supports more than 1,400 scholars, 44 per cent of them girls.
