AHD Bandipora conducts Awareness Program on Welfare of Stray, Abandoned Animals
Bandipora March 09 : Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) Bandipora today organised an awareness program at veterinary complex regarding management of accidental/other medical emergencies related to abandoned/stray animals.
The program was presided over by District Development Commissioner Bandipora Shakeel ul Rahman.
Dy DEO Mohammed Rafiq Bhat, CAHO Dr GA Lone were also present on the occasion
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the significance of community involvement in addressing the issues of stray/abandoned animals.
He stressed the proper implementation of laws and regulations that protect animal welfare.
The DC said that animals play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and contribute to the functioning and resilience of ecosystems.
The DC, on the occasion, assured support from the District Administration in addressing the issues related to animal welfare.
Detailed presentation was presented by Dr Bilal Ahmad DILO Bandipora regarding abandoned/ stray animal management aspects in the district.
He highlighted the treatment coverage to the abandoned/stray animals provided by the department during the year.
In his speech CAHO Bandipora apprised the Deputy Commissioner that a separate stray animal shelter has been established by the department and more than 2000 cases of stray/abandoned animals have been addressed by the department in the district so far.
He also informed that the timely intervention of field staff after receiving calls from Animal Activists and senior citizens has helped in saving the lives of many abandoned animals.
The program was also attended by Veterinary Assistant Surgeons, Animal Activists, Progressive Dairy Entrepreneurs, senior citizens, and Pashusakis.
