Bandipora traders call on DC Bandipora; demands ban on entry of ‘heavy vehicles’ in market
Bandipora, March 09: A delegation of traders on Saturday called on Deputy Commissioner Shakeel-ur-Rehman soon after an elderly person was crushed to death by a CRPF vehicle in Main Market near Gulshan Chowk.
The delegation led by former trade union leaders including Wali Mohammad, Shamshad Ahmad and Feroz Ahmad apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the problems being faced by them.
Delegation appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to impose a ban on heavy ‘Casper’ Vehicles in the busy market that choke the traffic besides risking their lives.
They said the market's narrow roads and the frequent movement of heavy casper vehicles of security forces have also led to accidents in the past also. “They (forces) have other effective lighter vehicles that can easily pass through narrow lanes easily, ” they said
The delegations appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to redress their grievances to ensure that no life is lost again in future.
The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to the delegation and expressed regret over the loss of precious life. He assured the delegation that he will personally examine the matter and resolve their issue.
