An official spokesperson said The Group Commander NCC Jammu, Brig PS Cheema, recently engaged with three exceptional cadets from the 2 J&K NCC Battalion.

These young leaders shared their transformative experiences as part of the Youth Exchange Program, shedding light on life-changing opportunities, immersive moments, frozen memories and wealth of new experiences from their extraordinary journeys.

Having taken a solemn vow to mentor ten cadets each from their institutions and friend circles, these cadets are on a mission to inspire bigger dreams and hopes among the youth. Their role as mentors during camps has proven to be an incredible source of inspiration for their peers. All these three cadets hold the aspiration of joining the Indian defence forces and are preparing for the same.

Under the overarching guidance of JK & L Directorate and the immediate command of Col Rajesh Jasrotia, the 2 J&K NCC Battalion of Jammu Group has consistently created extraordinary achievements for its cadets.

Spokesperson informed that this is the first time in the history that three cadets from one battalion got selected for different Youth Exchange Programs in a single year; which is a testimony of right selection, perfect grooming and constant motivation for the cadets to aim for higher goals and achieve these with commitment and dedication.

“Huge credit goes to the Heads of the institutes of MAM College and GGM Science College as well as Associate NCC Officers, Care Taker Shiv Kumar and Lt Devender Kumar Sharma,” he added.

The cadets expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to meet Indian ambassadors and high-level officials of the host countries, engaging with fellow cadets from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

“This included demonstrations of their country's programs, visits to institutes of academic excellence, insights into armed forces training, exploration of architectural marvels in palaces, and exposure to the history and cultural heritage through museums”.

The Youth Exchange Program facilitated by the NCC has played a pivotal role in providing these cadets with an enriching experience.

“The initiative has not only broadened their horizons but has also strengthened the bonds of friendship and understanding between India and the host countries.

SUO Sameer Singh recounts “Exposure to concepts such as Gross National Happiness of Bhutan has left an indelible mark on him”.

Official spokesperson said the NCC, through such initiatives, continues to fulfil its stated objectives of instilling a sense of discipline, leadership, and national pride among the youth of India.
